Wet start for Kadooment Day

This year’s Grand Kadooment Parade got off to a wet and ragged start this morning, with several revellers continuously running in and out of their bands when the Grand Kadooment parade moved off from Warrens.
Despite the ominous threat of rain, the religious band Walk Holy was first to move off, followed by a large contingent of Blue Box Cart masqueraders rearing to “mash up de road”. Long after this band had left, some of their stragglers were still asking where was Blue Box Cart.
The skies eventually opened up to give revellers a welcome drenching, while bystanders, from babies in strollers to the elderly stood their ground, protected with adequate rain gear. Some people even took the precaution of pitching tents along the route for shelter.
