Super Gladiators on point

Management of the Super Gladiators Calypso tent said they were opening last Sunday and they did.
They said they would start on time and they did.
Let’s face it, those who follow the Gladiators know that postponements and late starts are not foreign to the Waterford, St Michael based tent.
But let’s give it to them this time, it was a good feeling when on the dot of 8:30 p.m, all systems said “go”.
Even this writer was caught by surprise and it felt good.
Roy Byer, manager of the tent, had said that former Festival Band director Andy Williams would be there to see everything went smooth musically and he did not disappoint.
This writer also had a problem, however, with understanding many of the lyrics performers were singing with the exception of Adrenalin, Cutloose, Tall Boy and Akola in his second song VAT.
Sunday’s production with improvement in the sound quality can augur well for the future of the calypso tent known for its traditional calypso. (JS)
