Malik is back

The inimitable Errol Malik Gooding is back.
The man, who has brought tracks like Sonia Could Ride, Cherie and She Ass and Fuh Cup, is participating in Crop Over 2012, after being
out for some time with a severe injury.
Known for his remarkable phrasing, Malik is trying his hand at the Party Monarch competition rather than social commentary.
He is doing an uptempo number called Party, which was written by Anthony Black Pawn Blenman.
“It’s just a party song about a lady who keeping parties upstairs by he [Black Pawn]. So it’s just that he wanna jam in de party, yuh know,” Malik explained.
He said the song found favour with the back-up singers and other members of the House of Soca Calypso Tent, so he decided
to run with it.
Malik has been experiencing some difficulties since he is unable to work and has to use two canes for assistance since he sustained serious injuries in an accident a few years ago.
He said he had been able to secure a bit of sponsorship to assist with costuming for tent and other appearances this year.
“Look out fuh Malik. Malik gine be the same old, same old,” he told fans in anticipation of the tent’s June 16 opening. (YB)
