Celebration Time  is looking this year to highlight another personality who has made a significant contribution to calypso in Barbados.

This promise was made by Peter Boyce manager of the Celebration Time tent at its opening Thursday night at the Plantation Restaurant.

Last year the tent acknowledged the contribution made by calypsonian Froggie just before she passed away earlier this year.

Boyce said the tent would soon be making the list known.

In a wide ranging speech, Boyce also showered praised on Minister of Culture Stephen Lashley for what he said was Lashley’s support following reports that there was a planned show featuring Jay-Z and Rihanna to come off during Crop Over .

Boyce had previously expressed concern about the show and said it would have had a negative effect of the local entertainment during the festival.

“I would have liked  the show to come, but at another time… if the show was still coming off it would have exposed Bajans to a high quality [event],” he said.

Celebration Time opens June 30 at Grantley Adams School and plans are also on to do a show at Kensington Oval .

Patrons attending the launch got a sneak peek of what would come from the 25-member strong tent with performances by school boy Akeem and University Student Shaq Attack .

The tent will also feature the likes of Kirk Brown, Philip 7, Edwin,  Crimeson, Lil Rick among others.
